EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

While academics remain the top priority, I still wanted to enjoy my time at Clemson being involved in organizations and other activities. In this page, you will find three organizations that took most of my time outside of classes and ones that I learned a lot from during my undergraduate years.

GAMMA PHI BETA SORORITY

During the second semester of my sophomore year here at Clemson, I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to join Gamma Phi Beta Sorority.

Our organization's philanthropy is Girls On the Run, an after school program meant to teach young girls the importance of healthy living, both mentally and physically. Throughout the year, our sisters attend weekly practice at Liberty Elementary, our local chapter, helping young girls train for the end-of-the year 5k marathon while also teaching them valuable life lessons.

As a mentor, it is amazing to see these young girls develop throughout the 10-12 week program. Not only do they get better physically but they also grow emotionally and the confidence they get from being a part of Girls On The Run will always remain with them wherever they go.

My experience with Gamma Phi and GOTR will help me empower other girls now and in the future and is something I will always keep close to my heart.

CENTRAL SPIRIT

Clemson is very much a sports school. Our school spirit is unmatched and that's visible at any sporting event you go to.

Before coming to Clemson, I knew I wanted to attend as many sporting event as I could because it's a great way to support the athletes and also to meet new people. Central Spirit gave me the opportunity to cheer on the Tigers, from football to volleyball, soccer, basketball and even tennis, I went to all the games that I could and it was awesome! It has also helped me experience things I couldn't imagine doing as a regular student. Things like leading the First Friday Parade, pomping the Homecoming float, getting FRONT ROW tickets to home football games and creating memories that I will never forget.

Though it might not be as hardcore as other organizations on campus, Central Spirit taught me a valuable lesson of making friendships and creating bond with my school.

Council of Diversity Affairs

As a minority in a predominantly white institution, it was hard for me at first to find a place where I felt like I belonged. In order for me to feel like I felt in, I joined CODA to find people to relate to and try to create change around the campus so other minorities don't feel like they don't fit in.

In CODA, I not only found people who had similar experiences as me being at Clemson, but I also learned about the dark side of being a minority at Clemson, things that a regular student wouldn't know about because it hasn't been discussed as much as it should have.

Though my time in CODA was short lived, I am thankful for the knowledge I got from being a part of it and for helping me find people I relate to in college.
